Aġenzija Sapport requires the service of full-time Support Workers on an indefinite contract basis within the Day Services in Gozo.
The starting basic salary for the current year is €18,516 per annum with annual increments. Moreover, a number of other attractive allowances are also attached to this post.
Objectives of the Role
Support Workers form part of a team that assists service users in all their day-to-day needs so as to enable service users to achieve their optimum potential in enhancing their quality of life through development of skills and according to the service users’ ability.
Furthermore, Support Workers shall be involved in frontline duties and will be required to work directly with service users exhibiting behavior of concern.
Tasks related to the role include but are not limited to:
- Providing meaningful and effective input to the creation, review and update of ISPs;
- Assisting the Leader/Coordinator of the Centre and other professionals in developing the strategies for the implementation and maintenance of planned programmes, interventions and approaches;
- Assisting the Leader/Coordinator or other professionals in developing and planning the individual programmes, and monitoring the development activities as set out in the Personal Care Plan;
- Ensuring that service users are supervised at all times during transportation especially in boarding/alighting and ensuring their safety at all times;
- Encouraging community integration in consultation with the Leader and Senior Support Worker.
- Selected candidates are expected to conduct their interventions in Day Services in Gozo. However, placement for the Support Workers shall be affected according to the needs and exigencies of the organisation, which might mean travelling to Malta for training, meetings, or for other matters as advised by the person's superiors.

Requisites
Eligible candidates must meet one of the criteria mentioned below:
Applicants who have relevant experience and skills in the expressive arts (theatre, ceramics, painting, drama) and/or sports and who have the aptitude to work with persons with disability and who are willing to undergo in house compulsory training during the first six months of employment.
OR
Two (2) years’ relevant work experience as a Support/Care Worker in the fields of disability, mental health or a relevant social sector; one (1) year (equivalent to full-time) of which may be in the voluntary sector. This needs to be supported by a formal letter from the entity, and needs to be related to the disability and/or mental health sector;
OR
A recognised qualification or award at MQF Level 3 or higher in the health, social or disability sector;
Preference will be given to applicants who are able to communicate in both the Maltese and the English languages to the benefit of the service users. Moreover, applicants with a valid driving licence shall be given preference, since driving duties are an important part of the Support Worker’s role.
Applicants in possession of a foreign qualification/s are to produce with their application, a recognition statement on comparability of qualifications issued by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA).
