KM Malta Airlines Limited, the national airline of the Maltese Islands, is seeking to recruit a Junior Accountant within the Finance department.
Purpose of Position
The Junior Accountant in the Reporting and FP&A division will provide day-to-day support to align with the overall goals of the organisation through accurate financial record keeping, reporting support, and adherence to financial discipline within the airline. The post assists in delivering and executing fit-for-purpose processes to understand, report, and anticipate the financial performance of KM Malta Airlines. They may also be required to engage in broader Finance functions which lie outside of the remit of the division.
Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the Head of the division with the management, development, and delivery of management accounting and reporting, financial reports, budgets, and cost management.
Plans and Objectives:
- Provide day-to-day support to the management at KM Malta Airlines, helping to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Support the Head of Reporting and FP&A, and senior team members with routine financial administration tasks, following established procedures and guidelines.
- Learn and apply the Company's accounting processes and systems, flagging any errors or discrepancies to senior staff for review.
Reporting & General Accounting:
- Assist with collating data for monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting, under the guidance of the Head of Reporting and FP&A, and within set timelines.
- Help prepare supporting schedules and data inputs for monthly and annual financial statements, under supervision.
- Accurately input and record financial transactions in the general ledger and provide basic support with accounts payable and receivable processing.
- Assist with data entry and administrative tasks relating to accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
- Support internal controls and reviews by gathering documentation and records as requested by senior staff.
- Help compile accounting information for asset, liability, and capital account records.
- Assist in preparing trial balance workings and itemised schedules for review by senior team members.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a finance-related role (desirable).
- Experience in the Commercial Aviation industry is advantageous (desirable).
- Experience in Maltese Aviation financial regulatory frameworks (desirable).
- Actively studying towards a recognised degree in Accountancy or an equivalent professional qualification as recognised by the MQRIC (essential).
- Developing proficiency in supporting the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, including the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
